Hi everyone,
Welcome to the first weekly newsletter of 2021. I’ve got four poems for you today and I hope you enjoy reading each one. Thank you for coming along on this journey. Here’s to a year filled with poetry!
Friday
Here are two poems :) complete with a collage of sorts to start this journey! Both speak to the kind of magic that I’m yearning for this year. I’m still looking for a name for the first poem, and the second ‘On Hedonism’ you might have seen already if you follow my poetry on instagram!
Saturday
Sunday
This poem is partially inspired by ‘Moonstruck’ (1987) with Cher & Nicolas Cage. I love the melodrama, and the second Loretta (Cher) looked at Ronny (Nicolas Cage) and said “You’re a wolf!” I was obsessed. That being said, don't get it twisted, Edward over Jacob every single time but that's the beauty of dialectics :)
I do think Loretta was right, whether he knew it or not I reckon Ronny chopped of his hand because he did feel trapped. Emotion shows up somewhere, needs to express itself somehow & Loretta saw him in that moment. anyways I’d recommend !
Here’s a behind the scenes at how it began!
I hope you enjoyed reading this week. At the moment I reckon it’ll be scans as I’m still getting a hold on how you do line breaks, but thank you for reading! I’ll see you next Sunday for the next set of poems <3 Let me know what you think, or which of the poems you preferred/ spoke to you the most!
With Love,
Oyinda
