Hi everyone,
Welcome to 365 Days of Poetry & Honesty. I hope you’re having a good Sunday! This week the poems are a lot darker, and it's interesting because I could use this newsletter to track my mood but also sometimes the poem doesn't explicitly reflect how I’m doing, it's more so what do I feel like saying. But really it's all connected to be honest and either way, this whole endeavour is quite vulnerable.
Here are some songs that I’ve been listening to this week <3
Monday
I was thinking about this quote from Michael Kinnucan!
Tuesday
TRIGGER WARNING: mentions of self-harm
I wanted to write a poem about relapsing but I couldn't find the words, and then I started this poem and in the end, I think, maybe this is it, I don't know, but regardless, it's the title.
Wednesday
About loss.
Thursday
Friday
I’m proud of this poem, it needs work, but it's hinging on an experience that’s very real to me.
Saturday
Came to me in bits and pieces, not sure about it, but I do like the first few lines a lot!
Sunday
At first I was only going to share the Alice Notley poem because it captured my mood this week, but I came across this poem by Ellen Bass and it felt like a conversation or the answer to a question/feeling the first poem had left me with. And both are beautiful. So I thought I’d share them with you!
Thank you for reading this week’s newsletter. Let me know which one was your favourite, or if you have any comments/feedback in general!
With love,
Oyinda
P.S. another song I’ve been loving :)
