Hello,
Welcome to 365 Days of Poetry & Honesty! I hope you're well 💌 i’ve been holding onto this, or a variation of this for the past two weeks but i couldn't let it go. i feel stuck! like i can't catch my breath. i formless, like i’ve lost my edges to the world. i think i’m ready for new skin, snakeskin, sea foam. is it terrible to desire something you know is wicked?
Songs of the week <3 i hope you enjoy the poetry!
Saturday
the song pours out like running water // it wants to tell you i love you // maybe you love me too
Sunday
the stone angels are soft-hearted. the marigolds are roaring. your body is delicious. make love to me now!
Monday
maybe this will pass. maybe pigs will fly. maybe you'll answer when i call out your name
Tuesday
i thought that youth would protect me soft would make me bird & lover but everything is heavy & concrete & concrete. stones are ripping through the cuttlefish. bloodshed.
Wednesday
let's make angelic! i'll wrap my serpent hair around your neck
Thursday
i will not bury the wanting
Friday
I recently learnt that Friday’s poem is a Cento! Which is a poem composed of fragments from other poets/authors, and though I add my own words here and there to shape the meaning, it still fits! So for today’s cento we are blessed with poems by Federico Garcìa Lorca, Hedgie Choi & Wendell Berry and i’m thinking that
august faces the sunset // & love is like a stone firmly wedged in unripe fruit // desire is bleeding // is deer split open // on the country road // despair grows deep inside me //
but the night comes and i come // into the peace of wild things // it will happen when it happens
Thank you for reading.
With love,
Phoenix
