Hi everyone,
Welcome to 365 Days of Poetry & Honesty <3 I hope you’ve had a good week. Today I’m tired! hungover! But feeling wonderful! I walked across London Bridge as the sun was setting and for a moment I could feel the world singing my name.
Anyways, I think there's something about being a woman & it's the perception, that leaves you trying to order your life in a way that encourages docility, but really you take your body, your life, & you treat it like a piece of precious clay. How do you want to hold yourself? Protect yourself? Become Yourself? Right now I’m spilling over everything and sometimes that means I roar. does this make sense ?
Here are my songs of the weeks! I hope this coming week is kind to you & full of loving moments.
Monday
undress the tongue! hold your mouth open! tell me how you feel, no shame here.
Tuesday
i’m always thinking of a kiss & always breaking my own heart. but i will always dream of love & pray for love & i hope one day someone stays.
Wednesday
& i can’t // be alone with you // or let myself dream // of alone with you. the butterflies, they won't go.
Thursday
imagine
Friday
Two poems 4 you ❤️ The first I wrote after listening to ‘First Love / Late Spring’ by Mitski
& the second i’m thinking about the novel ‘Siddhartha’ by Hermann Hesse and what it means when you give yourself a name like Phoenix.
Saturday
how to cut myself free & no longer a caged bird. i want to be flying, a woman with wings.
Sunday
“Out of the girl came yellow // flowers, came stem & sepal.”
Thank you for reading this week’s newsletter. I hope you like the poems !
With love,
Phoenix
P.S. here's another song! it's forever a favourite & i like to think the song’s about me lol
