Hi everyone,
Welcome to 365 Days of Poetry & Honesty <3 Not much to say today, I’m tired, but I hope you like the poems !
Here are some songs I’ve been listening to this week :)
Monday
with this body like a flame a fire & hollering star-kin … & something about consumption, which I write a lot about & i think there's something about this city and its shadow, you could lose yourself be swallowed up, but there are pockets of london, places, people, that remind you to keep going, to return to yourself, to live !
Tuesday
stealing silver stars from the mouth of God. can't help it !
Wednesday
love feels fragile, like beneath the surface is chaos and shadows lurking
Thursday
“as hot as death-blood i whisper vanquish me” & the first part I took from Sylvia Plath. I read “I have a violence in me that is hot as death-blood.” and it stayed with me.
Friday
two feet from ruin
Saturday
i love you like lava
Sunday
The first poem I want to share with you is by Shanay Neusum-James, from her new pamphlet ‘surrender dorothy’. It's brilliant & her voice is raw and incisive, i love it! And the second poem is by Amal El-Mohtar, the first three lines, haunting.
Thank you for reading my newsletter. Have a good week, hopefully electric ❤️
With love,
Phoenix
