Hi everyone,
Welcome to 365 Days of Poetry & Honesty! Things are rough at the moment and I want to express my appreciation and love for you <3 Thank you! I’m praying for better days for all of us.
I hope you enjoy the newsletter this week. There's a poem for each day :)
Monday
short & sentimental. I have a sun in this style on my chest, and the memory of how it came to be and its meaning is precious to me. I was marking myself as myself, and now when I look at it, it reminds of me of that moment, of who I am and what I carry with me.
Tuesday
My mind spins if I think too much about God and Jesus Christ. There's a lot of uncertainty, and that troubles in me in ways I can't seem to shake off.
Wednesday
The painting is from Lucy Lui’s collection of lesbian art, and I think that explains the poem :)
Thursday
Won’t say too much for this one, I think the poem speaks for itself, but I do wish I could.
Friday
because this is on the internet, it's important that I state I have never done x
Saturday
Titled ‘Wolf of Your Soul’. Very much inspired by my lingering obsession with all things involving wolves and the moon. I blame Nicholas Cage and Cher in ‘Moonstruck’ (1987).
Sunday
Sorry to end with a sad one.
Although the loneliness is screaming at you in this poem, I feel like I need to say that my nature is that of a hermit. I’m working on opening myself up a bit more to others though! That being said, I’m also learning that it's not everyone you share yourself with. There are some people who will misunderstand you and will continue to do so no matter what you say, and in my opinion, that's worse than lonely.
Thank you for reading. Please let me know what you think, whether it's with a like or a comment! I really appreciate your thoughts and your feedback <3
I hope you have a beautiful week.
With Love,
Oyinda
*Lucy Liu! My apologies.
'all i can do is smile, i'll wait to break somewhere else. alone' your poetry vibrates with resonance of the human experience. I feel so much of it. so gently melancholy yet still more than often radiates love and sensuality. in awe. also black womans blues is an amazing piece. i do hope and trust you'll feel better soon and fall more and more into yourself <333
