Hi everyone,
Welcome to 365 Days of Poetry & Honesty! I hope the world has been kind to you this week. Christmas is a few days away and it feels strange to be here, walk down a road and see an inflatable santa, red and green fairy lights, but also it's quite wonderful. Today I was in a charity shop and they were playing ‘Winter Wonderland’, the woman next to me was humming along and I joined in, and for a moment joy felt palpable. So with that I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas <3 Thank you for being readers of my newsletter. This is what I’m most proud of.
Here are my songs of the week!
Monday
Tuesday
Not too sure about this poem, needs work and I keep coming back to it but I like the first two lines a lot!
Wednesday
These are fragments from poems I’m still working on, and because they're incomplete, here's two :)
Thursday
Trigger Warning: Suicidal Ideation
Friday
I did a poetry reading on Friday evening (also at the bottom of the newsletter) and I wrote this poem in the bathroom of the bar a little bit before I went on. I was listening to this song on the way there and it stayed with me, it inspired the poem.
Saturday
This was the one of the first poems I shared in this newsletter, and it felt bittersweet to read it back considering how difficult this year has been. That being said, my words in this poem, there's space for better days in the future and I have to believe, I do believe, in the balance of things.
Sunday
A poem by Mary Oliver, one of my favourite poets!
With Love,
